Antivirus Exclusions

The install of Examplify can cause a false positive malware detection by McAfee and Kaspersky Antivirus resulting in a failed install. To successfully install it is currently necessary to temporarily disable the antivirus scanner, perform the install, then create an exception to exclude one file from the antivirus scanner.

McAfee LiveSafe

  1. Click on the red M icon for the McAfee Antivirus located down by the date and time
  2. Select Change Settings and click on Real-Time Scanning
  3. Click the Turn Off button, select 30 minutes, then click the Turn Off button
  4. Install Examplify
  5. Return to the Real Time Scanning setting in McAfee and click Turn On
  6. Click on Excluded Files
  7. Click Add File
  8. Browse to C:\Program Files(x86)\Examsoft\Examplify\Services and click on Examsoft.SoftShield.exe
This will allow the install to complete and prevent the Examplify service from being detected as a potential virus.

Kaspersky

  1. Click the Kaspersky icon located down by the date and time
  2. Select Pause Protection
  3. Choose Pause for the specified time and pick 30 minutes, then click Pause Protection
  4. Install Examplify
  5. Once Examplify completes its installation click on the Kaspersky icon again
  6. Click on Settings
  7. Click on Additional in the left navigation list
  8. Click on Threats and Exclusions
  9. Click the Configure Exclusions link
  10. Click the Add button in the bottom right
  11. Click Browse then browse to C:\Program Files(x86)\Examsoft\Examplify\Services and click on Examsoft.SoftShield.exe and then click Select
  12. Check the option for Scan, make sure Active is selected, then click Add.

This will allow the install to complete and prevent the Examplify service from being detected as a potential virus.

F-Secure/WOW

F-Secure no longer detects the Examplify service as a threat.
